“ So sad to see this West End staple come to an end after 26 years. I had rediscovered Grillfish this summer and since have had great fish and sides here. Getting a reservation for one of their last nights in service, I went with the crabcake appetizer and my go-to arctic char with a delicious side of brussels. My husband loved their classic ginger calamari, and washed it down with some good Pinot Grigio. Ryan was a great bartender and the staff professional. I opted for a Nutty Irishman dessert to finish things off. Grillfish's closing will leave a vacuum for lovers of wild, sustainably-caught fish and seafood. ”
“ Food: Really top notch. I was impressed with the quality of the food and the preparation. Food was cooked just right. Portions were reasonable, good sized but not overwhelming. Service: Very good. I was able to walk in a be seated right away. Waiter was attentive but not pushy. Got orders right without excess Q&A, even though I had a few complications for him. Food came quickly. Price: OK. A bit high, but acceptable. Ambiance: A bit loud, but nice. Overall: Really good. I waffled a bit between 4 and 5 stars because the price was a bit high and the ambiance could stand for a bit more coziness, but other than that was really first rate so I rounded up. Would definitely repeat given the opportunity. ”
“ Limited seafood menu as the place tries to focus on what is local and/or sustainable. Oysters were just okay. Arancini was good but pretty heavy. Also atypical in that it has meat inside. The star of this place though is in their linguini with clams dish - one of the best rendition I've had in DC so far, which surprised me and is a worthy spend and is also offered for happy hour. It was enough to bump this up from a three to a four stars rating for me. I would come back just for this dish. ”

“ Walked right in and sat at the bar. The environment was lively and the service at the bar was excellent. My drink was really strong but the server fixed that for me with no complaints. The Buffalo shrimp has blue cheese mixed in with the sauce. I'm not a fan of blue cheese but it really worked together. The seafood chowder needed a bit more seasoning but it was filling. The kale caesar was excellent. It comes with these fried balls of cream cheese which was different but really good. I would definitely recommend to other visitors! ”

“ This is an amazing seafood restaurant for brunch or dinner in the DC area! There is street parking by the restaurant. On Outside doesn't seem like a fancy restaurant but when you go inside it is greatly decorated. Ambiance gives very low light and cocktail/causal attire. We had an amazing dinner here and loved everything about it. Service was fast and friendly but the servers and not overly crowded.The margarita and mule were great, strong drinks. As an appetizer we had oysters that were local from Maryland and fried buffalo shrimp. The oysters were really big and meaty, other oyster places I had were not this big but tasted great! Comes with champagne sauce, lemon and horseradish. Fried Buffalo shrimp had perfect level of spice and came with blue cheese crumbles. I really enjoyed the shrimp because it was fried properly and came with plenty of sauce! Seafood pasta and fried fish platter were given great raving from the table and the pasta has a spicy marinara option or white cream sauce similar to Alfredo with seafood like squid, clams and mussels. I had the squid ink risotto which I really enjoyed. The texture and look is a very acquired taste because it's black but the flavor is there! The risotto had a nice creamy flavor and the mushrooms (I'm usually not a big fan) were really good! Also the shrimp on there was cooked perfectly! Definitely have to go back again for brunch! ”
“ Very solid happy hour menu and was happy with all that we chose - oysters at 1.25 per cannot be beat - these were so good - probably one of the best bang for the bucks in DC. The tacos were okay - nothing noteworthy. The mussels were meaty - best mussels I've had in a very long time. Came back for a group dinner a few days later and had the mixed grill skewers and tried the ginger calamari and the Buffalo shrimp - everything was 4 or 5 but the entree - grilled skewers was a 5+ to me and comes with a side - chose scampi linguine - this was not a throw in - a very generous portion. Would return easily - 5 stars ”
“ May be the best seafood joint in DC, which is saying a lot (I know), but when 2 cajuns from South Louisiana come to town needing a Lent-friendly menu THIS is the place! I'm absolutely flabbergasted at the mixed grill skewers - 5 different seafood options grilled perfectly. Grilling seafood absolutely shows off a fish's freshness and this place got it right for all 5 items! Can't wait to come back again with more friends. ”
